Not warm enough
Now that we decided to move south, we suddenly feel more urgent to get there. At least to a place where we (meaning -me) feel comfortable being outside wearing shorts.
We have spent the last 3 days on the the road. Thursday – Halifax to Portland, Friday – Portland to Delaware, Saturday – Delaware to South Carolina. Traveling time is averaging around 8-9 hours of driving per day with a couple of stops for bathroom/gas.
I have discovered that I love road-side parks. Not the dinky little picnic places on the highway, but the real deal. Large state parks with long walking paths, lakes and nature. Yesterday we stopped for 2 hours in one at Virginia Beach. Despite getting there just before the sky opened up with a huge downpour, we decided to do our walk anyway. We were all desperate to stretch our legs! As the kids loved to say “we are soaked!”…however it was a lot of fun walking on the beautiful trails in the rain. Besides – we had towels/change of clothes in the car.
Today we are moving on again, but not as far. Our destination for tonight – somewhere in Georgia.
